Founded in 2007, Direct Line for Business provides a range of business insurance products to landlords and the small business sector, over the phone or online.
Direct Line for Business's business insurance specialists are here to help with buying, amending and renewing your policy, and of course with your claims.
We also have a webchat service.
At Direct Line for Business we know that your business is your livelihood, so the right type of cover is vital for the potential pitfalls an SME can encounter day-to-day.
Whether you've suffered damage to your premises or had a claim made against you, we're here to help.
Our dedicated claim handlers make it their business to get you back in business.
Lines are open 24/7.
If you're a tenant ringing on behalf of your landlord, we'll need the name of the policyholder, full address of the property, and information on the nature of the emergency.
A list of all items being claimed for and what they originally cost - please provide receipts if you have them.
If you can, keep the items that need replacing as we may need to inspect them.
Landlord insurance covers the risks you face when letting or leasing a property that standard home insurance may not cover, also known as buy to let insurance, it covers you for damage to the buildings or to your contents against a range of perils such as flood, fire, burst pipes or storm.
You can also choose from several optional covers like accidental damage, loss of rent, landlord emergency and legal expenses cover which covers the costs and expenses in dealing with a range of legal matters such as contract disputes, tax and VAT investigations, repossession and eviction of squatters.
If your boiler breaks down, this policy will cover the cost of repairing it, as long as the damage isn't due to wear and tear.
We will cover the cost of replacing the boiler if it is more economical to do so or if the damage is beyond repair.
We offer boiler cover as part of our landlord buildings insurance.
So, if your boiler breaks down and your tenants are suddenly left without hot water or heating, you can resolve the problem quickly, without having to worry about your finances.
The damage would have been covered under your maintenance agreement, warranty or guarantee, but is no longer covered because you have breached the terms of the agreement.
But if, for example, you're renting out an unfurnished property without contents or free-standing white goods, you may be interested in landlord building insurance only.
Structural damage to the building - such as collapsed walls caused by flood, a roof damaged by a storm, or blown out windows due to a fire.
Damage caused by escape of water - including burst pipes, leaking water tanks, or escape of oil from any oil-fired heating installation.
Boiler Cover - so if your boiler breaks down and it isn't due to normal wear and tear, we'll pay to repair or replace it.
